Quad Platina Integrated Amplifier at Vinyl Sound Toronto, Canada
The Quad Platina Integrated is a dual-mono Class AB integrated amplifier from QUAD delivering 2 x 200W into 8 ohms (2 x 300W into 4 ohms), built around an ESS ES9038Pro DAC, a dedicated MM/MC phono stage, an HDMI ARC input, and a current-feedback headphone amplifier. Developed over five years by QUAD's core engineering team, the Platina Integrated combines the company's heritage of musical integrity with a fully modern digital feature set and a contemporary chassis with a 4.3-inch full-colour display. Available in Black or Silver at Vinyl Sound in Toronto, Canada.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is the Quad Platina Integrated?
A: The Quad Platina Integrated is a dual-mono Class AB integrated amplifier delivering 2 x 200W into 8 ohms and 2 x 300W into 4 ohms, built around an ES9038Pro DAC, a dedicated MM/MC phono stage with selectable gain, HDMI ARC, a USB Type-C audio input supporting PCM up to 768 kHz and DSD512, and a current-feedback headphone amplifier. It is available at Vinyl Sound in Toronto, Canada.
Q: What phono cartridge types does the Platina Integrated support?
A: The Platina Integrated includes a dedicated JFET-based MM/MC phono stage with three selectable gain settings (46 dB, 52 dB, and 60 dB) and selectable input impedance for both Moving Magnet and Moving Coil cartridges. MM input impedance is 50 kohms // 100 pF and MC input impedance is 360 ohms // 200 pF. Signal-to-noise ratio is greater than 78 dB for MM and greater than 70 dB for MC.
Q: What digital sources can connect to the Platina Integrated?
A: The Platina Integrated accepts digital audio via USB Type-C, two coaxial SPDIF, two optical SPDIF, and HDMI ARC inputs. USB Type-C supports PCM up to 768 kHz and DSD512, while the optical and coaxial inputs support up to 192 kHz. HDMI ARC allows a TV to send audio directly to the amplifier through a single HDMI cable. The Platina Integrated is also Roon Tested.
Q: Can the Platina Integrated be used with an external power amplifier or subwoofer?
A: Yes. The Platina Integrated provides both balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA pre-outputs. These can be used alongside the speaker binding posts, so the preamplifier section can feed an external power amplifier, a powered subwoofer, or a secondary zone while the internal amplifier drives the main speakers.
Q: Does the Platina Integrated have a headphone output?
A: Yes. A dedicated current-feedback headphone amplifier drives a 6.3 mm output, with THD below 0.01% at 1 kHz/50 mW and an output impedance of 2.35 ohms, suited to headphones from 20 to 600 ohms.
Q: Where can I buy the Quad Platina Integrated in Canada?
A: The Quad Platina Integrated is available at Vinyl Sound, an authorized Quad dealer in Toronto, Canada. Browse our integrated amplifier collection or contact our team to arrange a listening appointment.

Power Amplifier Section
The Platina Integrated is built around a dual-mono Class AB power amplifier section rated at 2 x 200W into 8 ohms and 2 x 300W into 4 ohms. A custom-designed 630VA toroidal transformer with 44,000 uF of filter capacitance per channel and cascaded voltage regulators in both the analogue and digital sections give the amplifier scale, grip, and control with demanding loudspeakers. Bespoke capacitors developed exclusively for the Platina series in collaboration with Wurth Elektronik form an integral part of the circuit.

ES9038Pro DAC and Digital Capabilities
The digital section is built around an ESS ES9038Pro DAC, with two high-precision master clocks, one for the 44.1 kHz family and one for the 48 kHz family, for very low jitter. The DAC accepts PCM up to 768 kHz and DSD512 via USB Type-C, and up to 192 kHz via the optical and coaxial inputs. Five selectable reconstruction filters fine-tune the sound, lower-resolution PCM can be upsampled to 352.8 kHz or 384 kHz, and an HDMI ARC input connects directly to a TV. The Platina Integrated is Roon Tested.

MM/MC Phono Stage and Headphone Amplifier
The dedicated MM/MC phono stage uses a JFET circuit topology for high input impedance and low noise, which is especially important for Moving Coil cartridges. Three gain settings (46, 52, and 60 dB) and selectable MM or MC input impedance are set through the full-colour display. A dedicated current-feedback headphone amplifier delivers THD below 0.01% at 1 kHz/50 mW with a 2.35-ohm output impedance, suited to headphones from 20 to 600 ohms.
