Frequently Asked Questions
What is Bluesound, and who owns it?
Bluesound is a Canadian high-resolution wireless audio brand founded in Pickering, Ontario, developed by the same engineering team behind NAD Electronics and PSB Speakers. It is built around BluOS, its own multi-room streaming platform, and sits within the Lenbrook family of audio brands. Vinyl Sound is an authorized Bluesound dealer carrying the complete lineup for customers across Canada.
What is BluOS?
BluOS is Bluesound's proprietary multi-room streaming platform. It supports lossless and hi-res audio up to 24-bit/192kHz from over 20 streaming services, and it groups every BluOS device in your home so you can play in sync from room to room. One app controls the whole system, and a BluOS network can connect up to 64 players.
What streaming services does Bluesound support?
Bluesound works with a wide range of services, including Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, Amazon Music, Deezer, and internet radio, plus DLNA and UPnP for local libraries. AirPlay 2 is built in, so you can stream Apple Music and any other audio from an Apple device. Every NODE and POWERNODE model shares the same service compatibility.
Which Bluesound streamer should I choose: NODE, NODE Nano, or Node Icon?
All three run BluOS and feed hi-res audio into your system. The NODE is the core streamer, adding network streaming to any existing hi-fi amplifier or receiver. The NODE Nano brings the same platform in a compact form suited to desktops and secondary rooms. The Node Icon is a streaming preamplifier with a touchscreen display and a built-in preamp stage, so it can connect directly to a power amplifier without a separate preamp. Tell our team your setup and we will match the right one.
How do I connect a Bluesound NODE to my hi-fi system?
The NODE connects to your amplifier or receiver over analogue RCA or digital output, then joins your network over Wi-Fi or Ethernet. From there the BluOS app handles setup, service login, and playback. Vinyl Sound stocks the interconnects to complete the connection, and our specialists can plan the integration with your existing gear.
POWERNODE or POWERNODE Edge: which streaming amplifier is right?
Both combine BluOS streaming with a built-in stereo amplifier, so they drive passive speakers directly for a clean two-box system. The POWERNODE is the full-size streaming amplifier for a main room. The POWERNODE Edge is the compact version made for smaller rooms and desktop setups where a full-size unit is more than the space needs. Both share the same BluOS platform and streaming services.
What are the Bluesound PULSE wireless speakers?
The PULSE range streams directly over Wi-Fi with no separate amplifier needed, and each speaker syncs with the rest of your BluOS system. The Pulse M, PULSE MINI 2i, and PULSE 2i suit rooms of increasing size, and the portable PULSE FLEX 2i moves from room to room, with an optional BP100 battery pack for cable-free listening. Add them one room at a time to grow a whole-home system.
Can I add a subwoofer to a Bluesound system?
Yes. The Pulse Sub Plus is a wireless powered subwoofer that pairs with your Bluesound speakers or streaming amplifier to add depth and low-end impact. It joins the system wirelessly, so placement stays flexible.
Does Bluesound make soundbars for home theatre?
Yes. The PULSE CINEMA is a wireless multi-room streaming soundbar with Dolby Atmos, and the PULSE CINEMA MINI 2.1 brings Dolby Atmos streaming sound to smaller rooms. Both fit into your BluOS system, so your TV audio and multi-room music live in one platform.
What is the VAULT 2i, and can I rip my CDs?
The VAULT 2i is a network music server with a 2TB hard drive built for CD ripping and local library storage. It gives you one repository for both your streaming services and your physical collection, all served across your BluOS system in hi-res. It is the natural hub for listeners with large CD libraries.
Can I build a whole-home multi-room system with Bluesound?
Yes. Every BluOS device groups and synchronizes across rooms, and the system also plays in sync with BluOS-enabled products from partner brands like NAD and Dali. Start with one streamer or speaker and expand over time, up to 64 players on a single network. The Bluesound Hub can even bring existing sources into the BluOS ecosystem as a wireless adapter and network preamp.
What Bluesound accessories are available?
Vinyl Sound carries the full range of Bluesound accessories, including the WM100, WM200, and WM230 wall mount brackets, the FS231 floor stand, the RC1 remote control, the Room Calibration Kit, and the BP100 battery pack for the PULSE FLEX. These let you place, mount, and fine-tune your system for any room.
