What is the difference between moving magnet and moving coil cartridges?

How long does a phono cartridge last?
It depends on the stylus. As a general guide, a stylus is typically good for several hundred to over a thousand hours of play before it should be inspected or replaced, with cleaner records and proper tracking force extending its life. When the stylus wears, many Sumiko cartridges let you fit a matching RS replacement stylus rather than buying a whole new cartridge.
Should I replace the stylus or the whole cartridge?
If your Sumiko model offers a matching RS replacement stylus, replacing just the stylus is usually the more economical route and restores performance.
