Frequently Asked Questions
Wireworld, founded by David Salz in 1992, is a cable specialist known for patented designs like DNA HELIX and Composite Dielectric Technology aimed at passing the signal with as little loss and interference as possible. Wireworld is unusual in that it develops cables using its Cable Comparator, a method of testing a cable directly against a bare connection to chase a "no cable" sound. At Vinyl Sound Canada in Toronto the range runs from affordable to reference, so you can match the spend to your system. We are glad to help you choose.
This Wireworld collection at Vinyl Sound Canada focuses on speaker cables and HDMI cables. The speaker cables span many tiers, from the accessible Horizon, Stream 8, and Luna 8 up to the Eclipse 8 and the flagship Silver, Gold, and Platinum Eclipse 8. The HDMI cables include the Radius, Sphere, Silver Sphere, and Stellar Optical. Tell us your system and we will point you to the right cable.
The speaker cables step up in tiers, so you can match your budget and system. At Vinyl Sound Canada the more accessible options are the Horizon, Stream 8, Luna 8, and Solstice 8, the middle ground includes the Oasis 8, Helicon 16, and Equinox 8, and the references are the Eclipse 8 and the Silver, Gold, and Platinum Eclipse 8. Most models come in single-wire and biwired versions. Share your speakers and amplifier and we will recommend the right cable and length.
On a resolving system, a well-built speaker cable helps you get the full performance your components are capable of, and many listeners hear differences in clarity and imaging when they upgrade, though the size of the effect depends on the rest of the system. Wireworld's design goal is transparency, so the aim is a cable that adds and subtracts as little as possible. It is worth matching the cable tier to your system rather than overspending. Vinyl Sound Canada can help you find the right balance.
Gauge depends on your run length and speakers, with longer runs generally favoring a thicker conductor to keep resistance low. Rather than a single number, Wireworld builds each model with a conductor design suited to its role, so choosing the right model and length usually matters more than gauge alone. At Vinyl Sound Canada we can size the cable to your distance and speakers. Tell us your run length and we will recommend the right option.
Biwiring runs separate conductors from your amplifier to the low-frequency and high-frequency terminals of speakers that have two sets of binding posts, which some listeners find improves clarity. Many Wireworld models at Vinyl Sound Canada, including the Eclipse 8, Silver, Gold, and Platinum Eclipse 8, Equinox 8, and others, come in dedicated biwired versions. Whether it helps depends on your speakers, so it is worth checking if yours support it. We can confirm the right configuration for your speakers.
OCC refers to a high-purity copper with a long-grain structure that aims to reduce impurities in the conductor for a cleaner signal path. At Vinyl Sound Canada the Wireworld Helicon 16 OCC and Luna 8 OCC use this conductor, and there are OFC versions as well. It is one of the ways Wireworld pursues transparency across its range. Ask us how the OCC and OFC options compare for your system.
Wireworld speaker cables are typically offered terminated, and you can usually choose between banana plugs and spade connectors to match your amplifier and speaker binding posts. Bananas are quick and secure, while spades give a large clamped contact area, so the right choice depends on your gear. At Vinyl Sound Canada we can confirm the termination options and lengths for the model you want. Tell us your connections and we will set it up correctly.
For a standard digital signal within spec, a properly built HDMI cable passes the same data, so the practical benefits are reliability, correct bandwidth for high resolutions, and clean shielding rather than a changed picture. Wireworld's HDMI cables at Vinyl Sound Canada, the Radius, Sphere, Silver Sphere, and Stellar Optical, are built to carry high-bandwidth signals dependably. If you need a solid, correctly rated cable, they are a good choice. We can help you pick the right one for your gear.
For high resolutions and high frame rates you want a cable rated for the bandwidth, and for long in-wall or ceiling runs an optical HDMI holds the signal over distance better than copper. At Vinyl Sound Canada the Wireworld Stellar Optical HDMI is plenum-rated for long and in-wall runs, while the Radius, Sphere, and Silver Sphere suit shorter connections. Matching the cable to your resolution and distance is the key step. Tell us your source, display, and run length and we will recommend the right one.
