Hegel A200 Integrated Amplifier
The Hegel A200 is built for listeners who want a fully analog amplifier with the power, control, and focus to let the rest of the system speak for itself. Known as "The Classic," the A200 is an integrated amplifier with an MM phono input, expanded analog connectivity, a headphone output, and 150 watts of output power per channel. There is no DAC, no streaming section, and no digital inputs — just carefully executed analog amplification, giving each connected source component a stable, clean, and powerful foundation to perform at its best. As an authorized Hegel dealer in Toronto, Canada, Vinyl Sound can help you build a fully analog system around the A200.
Built on Control
At the heart of the A200 is a 150W Class A/B analog amplifier section using Hegel's SoundEngine2 technology, which detects distortion where it occurs and cancels it before it can travel further through the signal path — rather than correcting errors after the fact. Combined with stability down to 2-ohm loads and a damping factor of more than 4000, the A200 keeps low-frequency energy tightly controlled, giving bass notes precise starts and stops and clarity across the full presentation, even with demanding loudspeaker loads.
Key Features
- Fully analog integrated amplifier — no DAC, no streaming section, no digital inputs
- 150W per channel, Class A/B amplification with Hegel SoundEngine2 real-time distortion cancellation
- Stable down to 2-ohm loudspeaker loads
- Damping factor of more than 4000 for precise bass control
- Dedicated Moving Magnet (MM) phono input, based on the MM section of Hegel's standalone V10 phono stage, using hand-matched FET transistor gain stages and carefully selected op-amps
- 2x balanced XLR inputs and 2x unbalanced RCA inputs
- Fixed RCA line output (for recording or a second system) and variable RCA line output (for a subwoofer or external power amplifier, volume-controlled by the A200)
- High-quality headphone output
- Per-input fixed volume assignment, for integration into home theater or externally volume-controlled setups
- Learns volume commands from a TV remote
- Configurable startup volume, maximum volume limit, auto standby, and customizable display dimming

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the A200 have a built-in DAC or streaming?
No. The A200 is intentionally a fully analog amplifier, with no DAC or digital inputs, so you can pair it with any DAC or streamer of your choice. Contact Vinyl Sound to help you build a matching system.
Is the phono stage good enough for a serious turntable setup?
Yes. The A200's MM phono input is based on the MM section of Hegel's standalone V10 phono stage, using hand-matched FET transistor gain stages and carefully selected op-amps for low noise and musicality. Contact Vinyl Sound to confirm cartridge compatibility.
Can I control the A200 with my TV remote?
Yes. The A200 can learn volume commands from a TV remote, so systems built around an external DAC or AV receiver can still be controlled using the remote you already use daily.
