Meze Audio ARTA Open-Back Planar Magnetic Headphones

Meze Audio ARTA Open-Back Planar Magnetic Headphones

A truly special object, ready to redefine summit-fi listening. The Meze Audio ARTA combines a bold, naturally flowing design with a level of sound realism and immersion that is better experienced than explained. Using a groundbreaking high-impedance planar magnetic driver developed by Rinaro Isodynamics, ARTA delivers a rich, speaker-like presentation with lifelike detail, the most immersive sonic experience Meze has ever created. Engineered and hand-assembled in Baia Mare, Romania. Available now at Vinyl Sound Canada.

Groundbreaking MZ5 high-impedance driver

ARTA is built around an entirely new, purpose-designed Rinaro Isodynamic Hybrid Array MZ5 HΩ driver. At 225 ohms it sits far above the impedance most planars use, running in a high-voltage, low-current mode that keeps the diaphragm cooler and under less stress, which you hear as cleaner, lower-distortion sound that stays composed at any volume. A reworked corrugation pattern shifts the resonant behaviour lower for authority in the low end, and the Parus ARTA diaphragm weighs just 0.10 g across 4,650 mm2 of active area for exceptional linearity and signal purity.

Warm-neutral, speaker-like sound

Voiced for a rich, natural, speaker-like presentation, ARTA delivers bass with real weight and authority, mids and treble tuned so no part of the response pulls focus, and an overall sound that is coherent, immersive, and three-dimensional. The soundstage opens well beyond your ears, with instruments in real positions and clean separation between layers, comfortable over long sessions. A genuine all-rounder, especially rewarding with classical, acoustic, jazz, live, vocal, progressive rock, metal, and atmospheric electronic music.

Built to last generations

Design blends futuristic, bionic fluidity with refined Art Nouveau elegance, with an optimised fit for all head sizes and enhanced leather headband padding. ARTA is fully serviceable, every component, including earpads, headband, drivers, and earcups, can be taken apart, serviced, or replaced. It ships with two pairs of ear pads, two silver-plated cables, a cable pouch, and a premium hard case, and is backed by a 4-year warranty (2 standard plus 2 more when registered on MY MEZE).

Frequently asked questions

What is the Meze Audio ARTA?
ARTA is Meze Audio's summit-fi open-back planar magnetic headphone, built around an all-new high-impedance Rinaro MZ5 HΩ driver. It is voiced warm-neutral for a rich, speaker-like, immersive sound with exceptional detail, and is hand-assembled in Romania with full serviceability and a 4-year warranty.

What amplifier does ARTA require?
ARTA is optimised for high-voltage sources and performs best with a capable desktop DAC and amplifier. Its 225-ohm impedance works happily with both tube and solid-state designs, keeping the tuning consistent either way. A proper desktop amp is recommended; most portable players will not reach the recommended voltage swing.

Can ARTA be driven from a portable player or DAP?
ARTA was built for desktop amplification with substantial power and voltage-swing needs (around plus/minus 15 to 18V, or 500 mW and above into 225 ohm). Most portable players will not reach this, so a desktop setup is recommended, though a particularly powerful DAP is worth experimenting with.

How does ARTA compare to the Meze ELITE?
ARTA is not a reworked ELITE. It is built around an entirely new, purpose-designed Rinaro MZ5 HΩ driver, taking the physical, speaker-like immersion first noticed with the EMPYREAN and ELITE further, while advancing technical performance in equal measure for sharper resolution and a more coherent, effortless whole.

Are all parts replaceable?
Yes. ARTA is fully serviceable. Every component, including the earpads, headband, drivers, and earcups, can be taken apart, serviced, or replaced, so a headphone made to this standard grows more valuable over time rather than ending up as waste.
