Musical Fidelity M6xi Integrated Amplifier

M6xi is the newest high-end integrated amplifier in Musical Fidelity's acclaimed M6 line, building on the M6si with the same proven formula of massive power and uncompromising engineering, now enhanced with modern connectivity and refined internal design. Configured as 2 independent monobloc power amps with a separate preamp stage, it draws technology from Musical Fidelity's 1kW TITAN power amplifier and delivers 220W per channel into 8 ohms and 320W into 4 ohms. Sits above the M5xi at the top of Musical Fidelity's integrated amplifier range. As an authorized Musical Fidelity dealer in Toronto, Canada, Vinyl Sound can help you match this amplifier to your speakers and sources.

  • Isolated 5V/2A USB-A power output for external streamers, with its own transformer winding and linear power supply
  • Home theater bypass input, letting the M6xi work as a stereo power amp in a multichannel system
  • Variable pre-out for bi-amping (e.g. with the M6sPRX) or active subwoofer connection
  • Fixed line output suited to a headphone amplifier
  • Front and side panels milled from massive extruded aluminium profiles
  • New universal remote, color-coded for the Musical Fidelity M-line

Fully Discrete Power Amplifier — Son of TITAN

The M6xi is effectively a preamp with 2 monobloc power amps sharing the same casework, using technology trickled down from Musical Fidelity's legendary 1kW TITAN power amp. The main transformer and power supply PCB are encapsulated within a metal enclosure, reducing electromagnetic interference throughout the amplifier — a benefit felt especially in the refined phono stage. Improved components and increased output capability give the M6xi greater authority and control over demanding loudspeakers while preserving the Musical Fidelity house sound.

Preamplifier

The fully analogue preamplifier stage is built for signal integrity across the entire dynamic range, using a low-noise circuit design. Volume control uses a Burr-Brown stepped attenuator rather than a conventional potentiometer, offering more precise channel matching for balanced stereo imaging and stable soundstage placement at any listening level.

Phono Stage

The redesigned MM/MC phono stage uses an improved PCB layout with enhanced isolation and shielding to reduce noise and distortion. Because phono circuitry works with amplification factors up to 1,000, shielding it from external interference is especially critical — the encapsulated transformer and power supply position were tuned specifically to protect this high-gain stage.

Connectivity

M6xi includes 4x RCA inputs, a balanced XLR input, and an MM/MC phono input that's been upgraded compared to the M6si. A home theater bypass input bypasses the preamp stage entirely, letting the M6xi act as a high-performance stereo power amp for the front left/right channels in a multichannel system. New optical, coaxial, and HDMI eARC inputs add digital connectivity, alongside a USB-C input supporting up to 24-bit/192kHz, and an RS232 interface for custom-install system control. A 5V/2A USB-A power output, with its own separate transformer winding and linear supply, powers an external streamer and doubles as a power supply upgrade for it. The variable pre-out connects to an external power amp like the M6sPRX for bi-amping or to an active subwoofer, while the fixed line output is best suited to a headphone amplifier.

Reviews

"The M6xi is a monster. A big amplifier sound that I could listen to all day. You can turn the volume up and up and up and the sound from the speakers grows and gets more dynamic. It has real potential to be my best amplifier of 2026." — Terry Ellis, Pursuit Perfect System, July 2026
"The M6xi is a veritable powerhouse, with dynamics, authority and grip. It combines clarity and crispness with a velvet-gloved punch. There's oodles of detail, and the soundstage is large. The M6xi stands out as an excellent all-round integrated amp." — David Price, Stereonet, July 2026
"It impresses with its musical flow, yet is equally capable of delivering explosive bursts of power out of nowhere." — Tom Frantzen, Stereo, June 2026

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use this as a power amp in a home theater system?
Yes, the home theater bypass input bypasses the preamp stage entirely, letting the M6xi act as a dedicated stereo power amplifier for the front left/right channels in a multichannel setup.

Does this support moving-coil cartridges?
Yes, the upgraded phono stage supports both MM and MC cartridges (3mV/40dB gain for MM, 0.4mV/60dB gain for MC).

How does this compare to the M5xi?
M5xi delivers 240W into 4 ohms with a balanced XLR input not included. M6xi steps up to 320W into 4 ohms, adds a balanced XLR input, a Burr-Brown stepped attenuator for volume control, and TITAN-derived amplifier technology.
