Nd magnet technology

Often used in moving coil designs, including Rega's own, the Nd3 is believed to be the first moving magnet cartridge to use a Neodymium (Nd) N55 magnet, the world's most powerful commercially available magnet. This crucial component makes the unique design possible by delivering extra power over standard bar-magnet designs.

Advanced generator and coils

The Nd3 uses brand-new generator geometry with perfect symmetry for accurate channel balance, and an optimised pole gap for superior linearity and cross-talk, providing a far wider soundstage than previous models. Miniaturised parallel coils are wound in house using 38-micron wire with just 1275 turns, producing a low-inductance, low-impedance generator for vastly improved high-frequency response.

Cantilever, stylus, and body

The aluminium cantilever is fitted with a bonded precision elliptical stylus, a high-quality manmade polycrystalline diamond bonded to a round titanium shank, for exceptional tracking accuracy and detail retrieval. The complete assembly is housed in a zero-tolerance injection-moulded glass-filled polyphenylene sulphide (PPS) body, a lightweight, highly rigid material that reduces stress on the tonearm bearings and aids free movement, inspired by Rega's MC range. The Nd range is supplied in 100% recyclable packaging.

Factory-fitted options and rebuild scheme

The Nd3 is offered as a factory-fitted option on the Rega Planar 2 and Planar 3 turntables at a discounted rate compared to buying it separately. Rega's unique pivot pad design eliminates the mechanical joint between the stylus housing and the main body for improved tracking and stability, and if the cartridge is ever damaged or worn, it can be returned to a Rega dealer for a rebuild fitted with a new cantilever, stylus, and pivot pad, each fully tested as a new cartridge. Every Rega product carries a Lifetime Limited Warranty.
