Fine line nude diamond profile

The Nd7 uses Rega's most advanced fine line nude diamond profile for the ultimate in detail retrieval, the same profile used on Rega's high-end MC models, the Apheta 3 and Aphelion 2. This exceptionally small-radii monocrystalline diamond has a minor radius of just 3 microns viewed from the top and 30 microns in the vertical from the front. The tiny contact area allows immediate response to very small changes in the groove, retrieving exceptional levels of detail, fitted to an aluminium cantilever with the Rega 3-point mounting system.

Nd magnet technology

Often used in moving coil designs, including Rega's own, the Nd7 is the first moving magnet cartridge to use a Neodymium (Nd) N55 magnet, the world's most powerful commercially available magnet. This crucial component makes the unique design possible by delivering extra power over standard bar-magnet designs, giving the Nd7 a high output combined with the tracking ability usually associated with much pricier cartridges.

Advanced generator, coils, and body

The Nd7 uses brand-new generator geometry with perfect symmetry for highly accurate channel balance, and an optimised pole gap for superior linearity and cross-talk, providing a far wider soundstage than previous models. Miniaturised parallel coils are wound in house using 38-micron wire with just 1275 turns for a low-inductance, low-impedance generator and vastly improved high-frequency response. The assembly is housed in a zero-tolerance injection-moulded glass-filled PPS body, lightweight and highly rigid to reduce stress on the tonearm bearings, and supplied in 100% recyclable packaging.

Factory-fitted options and rebuild scheme

The Nd7 is offered as a factory-fitted option on the multi-award-winning Rega Planar 6 and Planar 8 turntables, designed specifically with these models in mind to extract the very best from your vinyl, at a discounted rate compared to buying separately. Rega's unique pivot pad design eliminates the mechanical joint between the stylus housing and the main body for improved tracking and stability, and if the cartridge is ever damaged or worn, it can be returned to a Rega dealer for a rebuild fitted with a new cantilever, stylus, and pivot pad, each fully tested as a new cartridge. Every Rega product carries a Lifetime Limited Warranty.

Which turntables is the Nd7 compatible with?
