Synergistic Research SRX PowerCell

The SRX PowerCell is Synergistic Research's flagship power conditioner, built around the company's largest and most advanced Electromagnetic Cell array to date. According to Synergistic Research, its EM Cells are five times larger than those in the PowerCell 14 and offer roughly 20 times the conditioning surface area of the original PowerCell SX. A total of 18 EM Cells (16 folded plus 2 flat) are distributed across three isolated output banks totaling 17,340 cm² of coupling area — the largest EM Cell array in any PowerCell to date. Each unit is assembled with nearly 1 kilogram (133ft) of point-to-point 6N pure silver wiring, and the EM Cells double as supercapacitors capable of delivering peak current beyond a standard 20A wall circuit. As an authorized Synergistic Research dealer in Toronto, Canada, Vinyl Sound can help you decide between the SRX PowerCell and the rest of the PowerCell lineup for your system.

Key Technologies

  • 18 total EM Cells (16 folded + 2 flat), first-generation SRX XL design, 17,340 cm² combined coupling area
  • EM Cells double as supercapacitors, supporting peak current delivery beyond a standard 20A circuit
  • Nearly 1kg of point-to-point 6N pure silver internal wiring (133ft total)
  • 20 Pink Quantum Outlets across 3 isolated banks for separating analog, digital, and high-current components
  • 2x 5V LPS USB outputs for powering accessories such as FEQs or Atmosphere devices
  • Reformulated Ultra Low-Frequency (ULF) bias and DC biasing, building on the Galileo SX PowerCell platform
  • New 24k Gold UEF tuning circuits
  • UEF Ground Plane, with optional connection to an Active Ground Block without losing an outlet
  • Machined aircraft-grade aluminum, carbon fibre, and plexiglass chassis
  • 9 selectable lighting options for the front meter and top circuit-view window (or fully disabled)

Three ULF Bias Settings

  • Blue (default) — a laid-back midrange with a linear transition from low frequencies through midrange to highs, for a large, enveloping soundstage
  • Green — a slightly more forward midrange with added bass emphasis compared to Blue
  • Red — voiced for large-scale performances and electronic music

Recognition

The PowerCell lineup has been recognized by several audio publications over the years, including Blue Note Award selections in 2024 and 2025, TAS (The Absolute Sound) Editor's Choice and Golden Ear awards, an RIHPA award, and an Audio Bacon Editor's Choice.

SRX PowerCell FAQ

What does the Synergistic Research SRX PowerCell do?
It's Synergistic Research's flagship power conditioner, using the company's largest EM Cell array (18 cells, 17,340 cm² total coupling area) across 20 outlets in 3 isolated banks, intended to condition a complete reference system.

How is the SRX PowerCell different from the PowerCell 14 and SRX PowerCell 14?
The PowerCell 14 uses seven redesigned 2nd Gen SRX cells (5,187 cm²). The SRX PowerCell 14 uses full-size SRX cells shared with this flagship (7,586 cm²) in a 14-outlet chassis. The SRX PowerCell is the largest of the three, with 18 EM Cells, 20 outlets, and the largest total coupling area (17,340 cm²) in the lineup.

How much current can the SRX PowerCell deliver?
Its EM Cells function as supercapacitors capable of delivering peak current beyond a standard 20A wall circuit, intended for systems with multiple high-draw amplifiers.
