The Quark is a compact Roon-based music streaming server built to address a specific problem: the broadband electromagnetic noise generated internally by a streamer's own computing components (CPU, RAM, and voltage regulators), which can migrate into a system's analog cables through electromagnetic coupling. Quark uses a simplified, low-power computing platform to generate less of this noise at the source, then applies Synergistic Research's electromagnetic cell and ELF/ULF biasing technology — shared with the company's PowerCell and Voodoo lines — inside the chassis to manage the electromagnetic field the noise radiates into. Its carbon fibre top panel is designed to block MHz-GHz noise from radiating outward while remaining transparent to the lower-frequency ULF biasing signal, so the correction can still reach the rest of the system. Quark ships with a Foundation XL 12 AWG power cable and an SR Master Fuse included. Three ULF Bias Settings

• Blue (default) — linear note transitions from low to high frequencies with a relaxed midrange; a large, enveloping soundstage
• Green — slightly more forward midrange presence with added bass weight
• Red — voiced for recordings with significant phase information, including electronic, ambient, and large-scale orchestral material

How does the Quark compare to the Voodoo?
When used with identical cables, Synergistic Research states the performance gap between the Quark and its flagship Voodoo server is much smaller than the price difference between them, thanks to Quark's low-power architecture and ULF implementation.

Can I pair a Quark with a Voodoo?
Yes. A common configuration uses the Voodoo as the Roon Core Server and the Quark as the Roon endpoint, or pairs two Quarks together with one as Core and one as endpoint.

What digital outputs does the Quark have?
Two USB input/output ports — one connects to your DAC, the other can be used for external storage.

Is Roon the only supported interface?
Yes. The Quark is designed to run Roon exclusively, and a Roon account is required.
